Write for us

We welcome pitches that help a general reader understand a sport or sporting custom without requiring specialist access, risky activity, or an expert decision. A strong contribution is specific, carefully scoped, and enjoyable to read.

What to pitch

Pitch an evergreen explanation, a comparison of game formats or equipment, a piece of sporting background, or a clear account of a custom readers may have noticed. We are especially interested in ideas that answer one useful question and give the reader a fresh way to follow a game.

What makes a good proposal

Tell us the working title, the central question, the intended reader, and the main points the piece would cover. Explain how you would handle variations in rules or local practice, and note any sources or commercial interests relevant to the idea. A concise proposal is more useful than a finished article sent without context.

How to send it

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option, with a note that your message is a contribution pitch. Please do not include confidential information or material you do not have permission to share. A proposal is not a promise of publication.
